Meet this Palestinian boy who comes everyday to serve tea to the Journalists as a gesture of thanks for giving them proper coverage & educating the world about war difficulties that they’re suffering through.
This boy and his family are staying at a hospital in Gaza because they’ve been displaced. He wants to become a journalist. Every day he’s been bringing tea for journalists working nearby. When asked why he says “because you guys get tired”
i hate going to a party and the only new person i connect w is a straight dude
a kid in class brought up potential ww3 and someone asked if school would be closed down if we went to war and i explained to them that kids still go to school even in a country that’s at war
When I go to complain about the reading comprehension on this website I need to take a deep breath and remember that less than half of Americans read above a 6th-grade level.
Now technically that data comes from the PIAAC, which doesn’t report results in American grade levels. That interpretation was done by Gallup. But less than half of Americans read at or above a Level 3 on the PIAAC, which means less than half of Americans can perform higher-level inferences, construct meaning across large passages of text or multiple texts, use background knowledge to interpret text, or evaluate non-central ideas in a passage.
Level 3 is about on par with the curriculum standards expected of 10-13yos. Level 4 is what would be considered a high school reading level, and Level 5 is a college reading level, roughly. Most Americans aren’t even at Level 3.
And you know what’s really concerning about that? Over 90% of Americans graduated high school - a number that has been mostly stable for decades - and about 60% of Americans have at least some college education. Which suggests that a ton of people who have high school diplomas and possibly even college educations still can’t read anything more complex than Hank the Cowdog.
Non-Americans, lest you start getting smug, scroll down to the “Results” section on that link. Most of y'all didn’t do significantly better.
chatgbt has helped me so much with lesson planning. god bless chatgbt
